Results of the questionnaire

Asking this question was important so I could decide on what age group would be
right for my target audience. I was aiming to target the film at 15 year olds +. From
 the results I also found that it was this age group that watched the most thrillers, so
I have chosen well and will target the thriller at the certificate 15.

I handed my questionnaire out equally to males and females, this was so there was not
a gender biased opinion in my results.

I asked this question in order to find out the popularity of Thriller films.
 The results show that Thriller is the most popular choice, closely followed by Comedy.
 This is good as I now know that the audience will know what to expect from a
thriller and that they do enjoy watching them.

Again from this result I can see that the majority of the people given the questionnaire
 do watch thrillers. This shows that the audience I have are already familiar with the type
 of film that I am making and will there for know the conventions of this type of film.
The fact that they do watch thrillers shows that the audience do enjoy thriller films which makes targeting the audience much easier. 

I needed to ask this question in order to find out whether the audience actually enjoy watching thrillers, I would still be creating a thriller however it is good to get to know the audience and see if they do like the genre of film. from the results I can see that the majority of people do enjoy watching them.

I asked this question in order to find out whether I should create the film with a very clear story line, or if there should be a lot of mystery involved, making the audience ask questions. In order to use the feedback from the questionnaires  I have decided that the opening to my thriller should be mysterious and not give to much away so that the audience will ask questions.  

I asked this question so that I knew what an audience would expect from a film to create tension. So that I can use the feedback from this question I am going to use dark lighting in the film to create tension. The second most popular tension builder was sound effects, in the music that I am using there are lots of weird and eerie sound effects, so this also suits what the audience have asked for.

I asked what the favorite sub genre of thriller the audience enjoyed the most. The first choice was a Psychological thriller which helped me make the decision to definitely create that genre of thriller. The second most popular was a crime thriller, which influenced the second idea that I included in my pitch.

I asked this question to see how death influences the audiences view on films and whether it made them enjoy them more or not. From the results I can see that there is a perfect split between yes and no, with half and half as the results. So that I can use the audiences influence I am not going to show that a death has occurred or that it is going to, but I am suggesting that there could be one or some kind of harm - through the use of the ax as mise en scene outside the executioners house.

I asked this question to find out whether the audience like to have an obvious plot, or whether they like to have to work out a lot of the mystery of it for them selves. Clearly from the results the majority of people said that they would prefer to watch a film that they had to concentrate on the narrative. From these results I have decided that the mysterious aspect of my thriller will work well as that is what the majority of the audience would prefer.
